Case description

This movie presents gastroscopy which revealed large perforation in the esophageal wall in patient with Boerhaave syndrome during drainage of left pleural cavity. Through the perforation gastroscope was introduced into the thoracic chest where the mediastinal structures, fluid with food fragments, and pleural drain were visible. The fluid and food fragments from the left pleural cavity were removed during gastroscopy, however, attempts to repair esophageal perforation failed, and the patient was qualified for thoracic surgery for Boerhaave syndrome.
