Biography
I completed my cardiothoracic surgery training in 2002 at UT, Memphis. I went on to train in cardiac transplant and mechanical circulatory support. I have been especially interested in minimally invasive cardiothoracic surgery since 2007 after my first real exposure to the technology. I have incorporated robotic surgery into my practice and I use the da Vinci system to perform intracardiac valve operations and repair of cardiac defects or removal of tumors. I also use the robot for lung cancer, diaphragm repair, thymectomy and esophageal procedures. I am also collaborating with my cardiology colleagues to offer hybrid treatment of atrial fibrillation. Combining cardiology catheter ablation techniques with robotic ablation to achieve a high rate of success in treating this difficult but common disease. I am also interested in developing a hybrid cardiac revascularization program using robotic LIMA to LAD combined with PCI for other suitable vessels in highly selected patients.
