Case description

This is an example of a transabdominal approach for enucleation of a large esophageal leiomyoma that extended into the gastric cardia toward the fundus. The leiomyoma was excised in several pieces to facilitate removal without entering the mucosa. There were no mucosal injuries and the patient had an uneventful postoperative course with no dysphagia or symptoms of reflux.
