Case description

55-year-old male patient (BMI 22.4) with recurrent rectal cancer. He underwent open rectal resection and postoperative radiotherapy in June 2019 in another hospital. MRI and endoscopy confirmed recurrence 7 cm from the anal verge. No distant metastases in preoperative imaging were found.
The patient was scheduled for laparoscopic resection of the recurrence, completion TME with primary anastomosis, and defunctioning ileostomy.
The postoperative histopathologic report confirmed T3N1c adenocarcinoma (R0 resection).
