- The Vattikuti Foundation founded the Vattikuti Urology Institute at the Henry Ford Hospital in 2001. The VUI was destined to become the birthplace of robotic surgery in general and urologic robotic surgery in particular. At the institute, Dr. Mani Menon established the first robotic surgery program in the world. Over the years he and his team have developed techniques to perform robotic surgery for prostate, urinary, bladder, kidneyand pediatrics needs. They also have utilized robotic surgery for kidney transplantation. His pioneering work is being practiced by surgeons all over the world and is benefitting millions of patients. So far, the institute has performed more than 10,000 robotic procedures and has published extensively in the prestigious urological journals.
