Case description

Achilles tendon is a long tendon located in the back of the leg and attached to the heel bone and calf muscles. It enables a plantar flexion of the foot. An Achilles tendon rupture is a partial or complete break in the tendon. It can occur due to sudden mechanical injury, or can be a result of a longer inflammatory process.
The video shows Rupture of Achilles Tendon repaired using minimally-invasive percutaneous achilles tendon surgery at The Stone Clinic in San Francisco. It is said, that minimally invasive surgery has been adopted as a way of reducing infections rates and wound breakdown however avoiding iatrogenic nerve injury must be considered.
