Case description

Cartilage injuries can be devastating injuries to the athlete with or without surgical management. The OATS procedure, or osteochondral autologous transfer procedure, has been proven recently to have the best chance of restoring athletes back to their previous level of play after cartilage injury. It is also very effective for treating osteochondritis dissecans, a fairly common condition in adolescent athletes. The video contains several case examples to help the viewer understand the procedure. The cases includes x-rays, MRI images, explanations. The first step of the procedure is to take a part of cartilage and bone from the healthy part of the knee. A spot where the cartilage is not needed nearly as much. And then the plug is placed damaged spot. Presented by dr. Clayton Lane.
