This video shows technique of nephron sparing surgery (NSS). It is the procedure of choice in case of localized cancer of kidney. It provides excellent outcomes as compared to radical nephrectomy. Preservation of kidney is especially important keeping in mind that many cases are noted where an individual develops tumor later in life in the contralateral kidney whose one kidney was removed earlier (for cancerous or noncancerous reason). In such a situation, previous partial nephrectomy makes a big difference. Robotic partial nephrectomy has advantage compared to open surgery.
