Case description

Entrapped keratin may accumulate in the ear and spread to the air cells in the temporal bone. This particular disease is called cholesteatoma. Surgical treatment (mastoidectomy) should be performed in evolving cases. We could perform a wide variety of procedures - from limited surgery to the more radical one (modified or classic). A well epitheliazed mastoid cavity of the left ear in a patient who underwent mastoidectomy for cholesteatoma is presented in this video. Remnant of eardrum and the opening of Eustachian tube are noticeable.
