Case description

In this video there is presented an overview of stress fracture of calcaneus. There are four most vulnerable areas of this type of fracture. Calcaneus fracture is more often among women and usually occurs due to overtraining. The main symptom is sudden pain which remains constant. There may be also swelling and tenderness in the both sides of heel. It is necessary to differentiate calcaneal fracture from other conditions, such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis or lumbar radiculopathy. X-rays or MRI may be helpful to confirm the diagnosis. Treatment include mainly rest and use of proper foot wear.
