Case description

Argon Plasma Coagulation was used as a emergency tool. Gastric varices occur in about 20% of patients with portal hypertension and approxiamately 25% of gastric varices bleed during lifetime. Gastric variceal bleeding has a higher rate of recurrence than esophageal variceal bleeding, and is associated with decreased survival. The cumulative mortality of fundal varices reaches as high as 52% at the end of 1 year.
