Case description

Cystoscopy, urethrocystoscopy or cystourethroscopy, is a diagnostic test that serves to directly visualize the urethra, the bladder neck (lower part of the bladder), and the inside of the bladder through an endoscope (in this case called a cystoscope) . This device is a thin tube that has a micro-chamber at its end, which is introduced through the urinary meatus into the urethra and then passes into the bladder, assessing its walls and cavity, determining whether or not there is any alteration in its structure, a foreign element or proliferation of abnormal tissue. Apart from making diagnoses, it can facilitate the performance of some complementary treatments.
