Case description

Bronchogenic cysts are abnormal growths of tissue that are congenital (present from birth). They typically have thin walls and are filled with fluid or mucous. Most bronchogenic cysts are found in the mediastinum, the part of the chest cavity that separates the lungs. Extra care must be taken when resection is planned by VATS in order to avoid injury of trachea and main bronchus. Single incision VATS approach gives the best control possible, with direct view and allows better control for a complete and a safe resection by minimally invasive surgery. We report a video showing resection complex paratracheal cyst (9 cm diameter) strongly adhered to the trachea, cava vein, aorta and right main pulmonary artery The patient was operated by single incision thoracoscopic approach. The postoperative course was uneventful and the patient was discharged home on the first potoperative day with no complications
