Case description

Lobectomy with sleeve bronchial resection is usually performed by thoracotomy but it can be performed by video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). Most of complex resections are described by using 2-4 incisions but the surgery can be carry out by using only one. Here we present the first video of uniportal VATS complete sleeve resection.A 55 year-old smoker male was admitted to our department for surgery. A CT scan revealed a squamous carcinoma in right upper lobe (RUL) with bronchial occlusion and distal pneumonitis. He was diagnosed of T4N0M0 and after induction treatment (cisplatin based therapy) the patient was proposed for single-port VATS sleeve resection. The patient was discharged home on the fifth postoperative day.
