Case description

A 45-year-old female patient presented with persistent abdominal pain in the mesogastrium and left hypochondrium. Imaging studies revealed a lesion in the pancreas (body) consistent with a Frantz tumor, confirmed by endoscopic ultrasound and biopsy. She was scheduled for a laparoscopic, deep-to-caudal pancreatectomy using the Warshaw technique (splenic preservation).

NOTE: The video shows an initial attempt to resection the pancreas with mechanical sutures, but the characteristics of the pancreas (indurated tissue and increased volume) made this approach unsuccessful. Therefore, it was decided to resection it with a harmonic scalpel. The stump was not reinforced with sutures, a Jackson-Pratt drain was left in the surgical bed, and the patient developed a type A pancreatic fistula that resolved within 3 weeks.
