Case description

Cartilage injuries can be devastating injuries to the athlete with or without surgical management. ACI or Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation is the most advanced procedure available to treat cartilage injuries. It involves taking a sample of healthy cartilage from the athlete's knee, growing it in a laboratory, and then implanting the cartilage cells six weeks later into the site of injury. This video outlines the Carticel ACI surgical procedure and contains video of an actual case. Presented by dr. Clayton Lane
