Case description

The new surgical option for patients with low rectal cancer is resection of the extralevator approach to abdominoperineal. This maneuver includes a broad excision of the levator muscle that can minimalise the high frequence of peripheral margin positivity related with traditionall abdominoperineal resections. That is a presentation of technique of robotic cylindral abdominoperineal resections. To execute a controlled transection of the levator muscles is used daVinci robot transabdominall and under direct visualization. The assistance of robot make possible the transabdominal transection of the levator muscles in cylindral abdominoperineal resection, the resuls are acceptable perioerativ and pathological. The further studies are need to be done to check the safety, efficacy and long-term results of this technique.
