Case description

Laparoscopic Exploration of the Common Bile Duct. Can be performed as an extension of laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
The CBD is explored either via the cystic duct, or directly into the CBD in a similar manner to that described above, using flexible cholecochoscopy and/or an x-ray image intensifier. Choledocholithiasis is the presence of gallstones in the common bile duct. This condition causes jaundice and liver cell damage, and is a medical emergency, requiring the endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) procedure or surgical treatment.
