Case description

The following educational video will highlight the key steps for a laparoscopic adrenalectomy. The adrenal glands are small structures situated above each of the kidneys and play a major role of endocrine function. Each gland produces cortisol (responsible for sodium metabolism), aldosterone (responsible for potassium metabolism) and sex hormones as well as adrenaline. Surgery may be required for certain masses of the adrenal that secrete excess of these hormones. Laparoscopy should usually be the first choice of surgical approach. We hope to overview the technique steps of laparoscopic adrenalectomy, the risks and the routine followup of the peri-operative period.
