Case description

In this video we can see the true vocal folds appearance in a patient with Reinke's oedema. In the subepithelial space a gel-like substance is accumulating slowly which results in coarse mucosal waves and warbly hoarse voice. In the same time there is a presence of right vocal fold subepithelial cyst and an evidence of reflux laryngitis. Heavy smoking and abuse/overuse of voice were the predisposing factors in this case. This patient needs a comprehensive management which includes speech therapy, treatment of reflux, and microphonosurgery.
