Case description

To recognize some subtle abnormalities in certain pathologies of a eardrum it is very important to know how normal eardrum looks like. Its colour is pearly white, with a cone of light which is present at antero-inferior quadrant. We should analyse systematically pars tensa, pars flaccida, and the ossicle. If we perform an examination using an otoscope, a well fitted ear speculum and a good illumination must be used.
