Case description

Dense myringosclerosis and its complication - tympanosclerosis (calcification affecting the ossicles) may cause conductive hearing loss. Differentiation diagnosis can be easier by use of tympanogram and audiogram. Generalised chalky white appearance of the left eardrum with small central perforation inferiorly is presented in this video. The inferior recess of the bony meatus is very prominent which can be important in case of foreigh body impaction as the view is partly hidden along the horizontal plane of its floor, but it can be missed on examination. You will be able to compare this pathology with normal eardrum on the right side.
