Case description

Stenosis of the cricotracheal segment of the airway is presented as a complication of prolonged intubation. Examination by rigid 70 degree laryngoscope discovered an estimated 60% luminal stenosis with an intact vocal folds innervation bilaterally. The condition was treated by radial carbon dioxide laser ablation (10 Watt in superpulse mode). The next step was dilation by use of the largest size bougie (it allowed to fully accodate the affected segment). Application of topical mytomycin was performed for 5 minutes.
