Osteopathic Approach to Visceral Dynamics
Case description
The osteopathic concept states that 'The dynamics of the abdominal viscera and diaphragm are organized in a precise system where anarchy has no place. The viscera are moved under diaphragmatic thrust in constant axes and directions. The homeostasis of these organs in particular and of other systems in general would depend, inter alia, on the functioning of this system. As a corollary, any disruption of this dynamic is likely to generate functional disorders. The dynamics of the viscera and diaphragm were described before 1985, but have not been statistically confirmed. In collaboration with Christian WILLIAME D.O., our research conducted continuously for 30 years, have tried to authenticate the osteopathic concept in the most scientific and objective way possible.
This video is a very brief summary. Based on more than 900 scientific references, the books “Traité d’ostéopathie et The “pressure columns model© for osteopathic care” provide more complete answers.
Three years of research (1985-1988), twenty-four hours of video recordings and three thousand photographs made it possible to study the biodynamics of the gastrointestinal tract by radiographic examinations and that of the liver, of the spleen, kidneys and pancreas by ultrasound.A second statistical study has established that a defined functional disorder corresponds to specific dysfunctions of the dynamics. We have established a pressure column model that allows better understanding of abdominal visceral dynamics.
In case of permanent increase in abdominal pressure, all the abdomino-visceral elements will be impaired compliance and elastance modifying visceral dynamics, intra-pleural and posture, with resonance effects in other compartments of the human body as documented by scientific literature.
