Dr. Robert F. LaPrade is an orthopedic knee specialist and surgeon at the Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado. With medial meniscus injuries of the knee, the joint line on the inner knee will often be tender and sore. In this short video, Dr. LaPrade demonstrates how he assesses a medial meniscus injury by locating pain and crepitation along the joint line. At the same time, he applies valgus and/or varus stress to the knee. In most cases, if pain is presented at this exact location, it is evidence of a possible meniscus tear. Dr. LaPrade will order an MRI to confirm this diagnosis.
