Case description

Joint preservation is a hot topic in orthopedics right now, as we are faced with an increasing number of patients who want to stay active later in life and are prohibited by early arthritis. One novel technique is the subchondroplasty. Procedure in which biologic cement is injected into the bone of the prearthritic knee. The cement is injected at sites of bone marrow edema discovered on MRI and thought to be a precursor to arthritis and a significant source of pain in certain patients. Video contains pre and post operative xrays, MRI scans and fragments of the procedure itself. Presented by Clayton Lane MD.
