Case description

LSH, which stands for Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy, is a broadly spread laparoscopic intervention applied for various diseases. There is a difference in opinion about cervix closure: some surgeons are in favour of not closing the cervix al all. Another problem is time of the uterus prolapse treatment-either intraoperatively or preoperatively. The video is a presentation of the cervical closure and pelvic floor reconstruction. Moreover, a technique of ureterosacral fixation or support plication is also demonstrated. Robotic method as well as total uterus removal is only an option. Da Vinci robot, with better visualization and dexterity issues, was used and pulsed intermittened radiosurgical dessication was applied as well. The aim of the procedure is to correct the floor of the pelvis and strengthen it properly. The proper length of the vagina is provided and peritoneal adhesions prevented. 150 patients were operated with this technique, without any major complications and with a good postoperative effect. A few patients were reexamined laparoscopically and no adhesions were observed. Results considering sexual function are nearly the same as in other laparoscopic interventions. The proper length of the vagina is provided and patients are safisfied with the outcome. Author: Michael Swor MD MBA
