Case description

During an elective cholecystectomy, the standard use of ICG-NIR cholangiofluorescence enabled us to recognize a rare anatomical variation of the right posterior hepatic duct draining into the cystic duct (Huang type A5). An intraoperative cholangiogram (IOC) confirmed the anatomical variation. Standardized combined use of ICG and IOC enhances the safety of the procedure.
