Case description

This 65 year-old female, without a significant medical history presented with rectal bleeding, with the digital examination a hard mass was palpable at 8 cm. of the anal verge. Analysis showed it was a rectal GIST, a rare mesenchymal tumor of the gastrointestinal tract, which expressed CD117 (or c-kit, a marker of kit-receptor tyrosine kinase) and CD34.
