Case description

Gross Description: Colon of 95 cm with 8 cm of diameter at the level of the cecum, 6 cm. in the transverse and descending colon 5 cm. in their averages diameters. At the level of transverse mesocolon there were purulent exudate at site of two stitches of silk in area of perforacion of 1.2 cm long. Panoramic view of the surgical specimen showing the entire colon which was resected from the recto-sigmoid junction to 20 cm of terminal ileum Twenty percent of patients require colectomy, which is curative.
