In endemic areas, most people are colonized by small numbers of worms and have no symptoms. Some people harbor hundreds or even thousands of worms, and they present with anemia, diarrhea, abdominal pain, weight loss, malnutrition, appendicitis, colonic obstruction, perforation, or intestinal bleeding.
