Case description

Abstract: Pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis is an unusual condition with gas-filled cysts in the gastrointestinal tract. The underlying causes of the gas can vary widely and different hypotheses regarding its pathophysiology have been postulated.

A case revealing the typical macroscopic appearance of pneumatosis intestinalis is presented. The information presented here allows a better understanding of the endoscopic diagnosis and may facilitate the decision-making process in this context.
