Case description

Congenital remains of mucosa of the stomach in the esophagus, being a result of a failure gasrtic development are known as the esophgeal inlet patch. It can be found in even 10% of adults and 5% in chidren. As a fully functional stomach mucosal, it secrets a gastric acid may be also infected by H.pylori. To the contrary, Barrett's esophagus is an acquired preneoplastic state, developing from the multipotential stem cells. Congenital inlet patch has no malignant potential, however this standing is in a debate by endoscopists. Endoscopic (EMR) or HALO radioablation therapy of these patches should be considered. Usually, there is a tendency to treat a patient with manifestation, if the pathology is connected with Barrett's esophagus.
