Case description

Upper GI bleeding is the most common clinical
manifestation of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs),
manifesting as hematemesis or melena in 40-65% of
patients. Bleeding occurs because of an ulcer forming in
the gastric mucosa overlying the tumor.
