Sigmoid Volvulus

A patient presented with recurrent sigmoid volvulus and large bowel obstruction. A colonoscopic reduction was attempted and successful allowing for passage of stool. The patient underwent a bowel prep and sigmoid resection without complications 2 days later. By doing a colonoscopic decompression the patient avoided a colostomy. A short review of sigmoid volvulus will be presented along with colonoscopic techniques for reduction.
