There has been a growing interest in this topic among AAPCE members recently. This talk will review basic guidelines of the use of esophageal dilation in clinical practice, explore pitfalls and complications, as well as give confidence to participants on getting started and gaining experience in this area.

Learning objectives:

•Understand more about the safety and efficacy of esophageal dilation in clinical practice.
•Be aware of the pitfalls and complications of dilation.
•Become more comfortable with different methods of dilation of common strictures.
•Learn the proper billing codes for esophageal dilation.
•Receive instruction and pearls from other AAPCE members who are currently performing dilation in their practice.

This is an educational lecture on performing esophageal dilation in practice. This lecture was presented at the 2011 annual conference of the American Association of Primary Care Endosocopists in Memphis, Tennessee by Zach Bechtol, MD.
