Case description

Interfaith Clinic is a charitable clinc that sees uninsured patients. It obtained a grant which provided free colonoscopy as part of the grant to eligible patients. Thirty-nine out of 50 eligible patients underwent a colonoscopy. The most common indications were screening and blood in the stools. The adenoma detection rate was 20.5%. Cecal intubation rate was 100% and withdrawal time was more than 6 minutes on all cases. One adencarcinoma was detected. The reimbursements from the grant were comparable to the Medicaid and Medicare reimbursements. This lecture was presented at the 2012 annual American Assocation for Primary Care Endoscopy CME conference in San Francisco by Dr. Philipp Narciso.
