Case description

Aortic valve is one of the semilunar valves of the heart and lies between the left ventricle and aorta. Its main function is to prevent the blood from regurgitating from the aorta to the ventricle. There are two main processes which can affect this valve. The aortic stenosis occurs, when aortic valve fails to open fully, thereby obstructing the blood flow frrom the heart. On the other side, there is the aortic insufficiency, in which the aortic valve is incompetent and fails to close entirely, enabling the blood to flow back to the heart. Also, those two conditions can coexist.

The following operative video details a procedure of a aortic valve replacement with minimal J-incision access. This type of incison is connected with cosmetic advantages, less blood product use and also less pain.
