Case description

This video shows a Prostate-Sparing Robotic Cystectomy. Classically in a man, when the bladder needs to be removed due to invasive bladder cancer the prostate is also removed. However, recent studies have shown that in very select cases where tumor is not close to the bladder neck the prostate can be spared responsibly. This is worth consideration as such patients are often immediately potent after this major surgery and gain continence much quicker and more completely than when the prostate is removed along with the bladder. Here Dr. Engel performs this case successfully and performs an ileal neobladder reconstruction.
