Case description

This video shows creating urthral anastomosis without suturing. After robotic prostatectomy, the bladder and urethra are brought together with suture to create an anastomosis. This live proctored case shows a device (under research) performing the anastomosis without the use of suture. Potential advantages include decreased anesthesia time and less tissue trauma. Also unique about this video is that it involves teleproctoring using an internet connection and a phone line. The quality of the feed is excellent for remote proctoring. Dr Kella, a urological oncologist in San Antonio, TX is doing the proctoring as the principal investigator for the study.
