Case description

The following material presents an early continence recovery after open radical prostatectomy. Consequences of the radical prostatectomy on the static system of the pelvis include: posterior raphe break - loss of the posterior support for an effective urethro-sphincter contraction; 2. Urethro-sphincter retraction and shortening; 3. Perineal prolapse and distal sliding of the urethro-sphincter complex. Aims and steps of the surgical technique: 1. Restore urethral lenght suturing the urethra to the bladder. 2. Rebuild posterior fibrous septum suturing the median raphe to the residual Denonvillier's fascia. 3. Replace urethro-sphincter complex in the correct anatomical position.
