Case description

Surgical treatment of urethrovaginal fistulas is shown in following material. A urethrovaginal fistula is an abnormal passageway between female urethra and vagina. The fistula most often develops after incontinence surgery, surgical treatment of urethral diverticulas, prolonged labor or obstetric interventions. Other causes include trauma (pelvic fractures, long-term catheterization), tumors or the complications of cancer treatment such as surgery and radiation. Proximal fistulas present with urinary incontinence. Distal fistula cause irritative voiding symptoms and a splayed urinary stream with urine entering the vagina.
