POCUS - Teaching Point - Ultrasound vs CXR in pneumonia
Case description
Chest X ray (CXR) is most often used to evaluate for lung pathology. Unfortunately it is not very sensitive or specific for many disease etiologies. Many times it cannot differentiate between two different etiologies. This video is a review the limitations of CXR to differentiate between pneumonia and pleural effusion compared to the superior capability of ultrasound to differentiate between the two.
