Case description

A sleep breathing disorder characterised by intermittent cessation of breathing to the extent of complete apnea (no airflow in-and-out the breathing passage and no chest movement of at least 10 seconds) due to obstruction at velo- and/or- oropharyngeal levels is called
obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS). In children it is mostly attributed to significantly enlarged tonsils and adenoids. In this video we can see an elongated uvula, grade 2+ tonsillar enlargement and also obstructive adenoids. [Green circles- uvula, SP-soft palate, T- tonsil, E- epiglottis, PW- posterior pharyngeal wall, red cross- palatoglossal fold, yellow star- palatopharyngeal fold, A- adenoids]
