Case description

Middle meatus is the drainage for anterior group of ethmoid sinus air cells while the posterior group drain into superior meatus. This particular case presents thick draining mucopus from right ethmoid infundibulum towards inferior part of hiatus semilunaris and heading posteriorly into the nasopharynx. Maxillary sinuses also drains into the middle meatus. The most common symptoms of maxillary sinuitis are excessive production of phlegm (from postnasal drips), unexplained coughs and cacosmia. We can distinguish two forms of presentations depending on onset and duration - chronic and acute.
