Case description

Leukoplakia is the general term used to describe a white patch on the mucosa of the oral cavity that cannot be wiped off and is not susceptible to any other clinical diagnosis. Biopsy is always required to reach a histological diagnosis. Leukoplakia on the vermillion surface of the lip typically arises from excessive exposure to sunlight or from the chronic thermal injury caused by the heat of a pipe stem.
