Edward Gee - The topic of discussion is pes cavus, which refers to the high arch of the foot. - Pes cavus is associated with various hindfoot positions and may require an understanding of three-dimensional anatomy and mechanical models. - Normal foot movement involves the tibialis posterior muscle firing along with the gastroc and soleus to allow the foot to push off the ground and invert around the subtalar joint. - Pes cavus is a condition of stiffness, unlike flat feet which are often floppy, but can be a normal foot shape or advantageous for sports players. - Corrective options for pes cavus depend on the specific deformity of the foot and should be individualized for each patient.
