Case description

Fractures of the fingers and hand are common phenomenon. The anatomy of the region is presented. Firstly there is a Mallet finger deformity shown. The patient is unable to straighten the DIP due to an avulsion injury. In most cases it can be treated without surgery. Secondly medial and proximal phalangeal fractures are explained. Metacarpal fractures require wrist immobilization. Some of the pathologies may require a surgery to obtain full reconvalescence. The author describes each of the fractures and possible treatment methods.
