Case description

The video provides a comparison of a normal healthy anterior cruciate ligament(ACL) and an anatomically reconstructed ACL throughout the full range of motion of the knee. Brief discussion of the difference between anatomic and classical ACL reconstruction techniques and how they affect outcome. An author of this material is Dr Clayton Lane. During a Anatomic ACL Reconstruction a different approach is taken. No longer the tunnel is drilled through the tibia as presented on the video. A new procedure called anteromedial reaming is presented. It allows the surgeon to create a better placed attachment for the new ligament, so the patients will no longer experience rotational instability, which can occur during traditional ACL reconstruction. Models are shown to help the viewer understand the anatomical differences between the procedures.
