Case description

Herein, we present the laparoscopic management of Meckel’s diverticulitis in a 17-year-old patient with a history of open appendectomy via a McBurney incision for perforated appendicitis complicated by abscess formation 8 years earlier. Laparoscopic adhesiolysis was performed, allowing identification of the Meckel’s diverticulum. A 2-cm periumbilical mini-laparotomy was then carried out, through which segmental small bowel resection was performed followed by a hand-sewn primary end-to-end anastomosis.

The postoperative course was uneventful, and the patient was discharged without complications.
